Portage Lakes Fastpitch Softball, Inc. was created by community members who are striving to make a difference in the lives of young girls. This league is a 501c3 pending fastpitch softball organization in the Portage Lakes area. Their mission statement, to me, says it all!

The purpose of the corporation is to teach and demonstrate to young children the principles of good sportsmanship, as well as integrity, honesty, courage and reverence. The highest priority of the corporation is to produce finer, stronger and happier children who will grow to be good, responsible, ethical, healthy adults. The board, coaches, parents and spectators shall bear in mind, at all times, that the attainment of exceptional athletic skill or the winning of the game is secondary and that the molding of future citizens is of prime importance. Furthermore, the corporation, in order to promote higher education, will work to obtain funding for yearly scholarships to selected qualified athletes through the Ohio Tuition Trust Authority College Advantage Savings Program.

Since we are a new league, we really need your help to get us off the ground this year. We have already spent quite a bit to legalize our company and insure you are contributing to a 501c3 non-profit organization. One way to guarantee this status, is just by checking on-line at www.sos.state.oh.us (under non-profit organizations, just hit search filings.)

Your support this year will not only help a new league with start-up costs, but we are also planning mini-training camps for our participants, as well as a trip to an Akron Racers game, and even a scholarship to an eligible senior. We hope, in our first year alone, to provide nearly 100 girls, ages 5-18, an opportunity to play softball. We have four age divisions; 8 & under, 10 & under, 12 & under and 14 & under as well as our SEGA League for girls 18 and under. Practice begins in April each year and we begin games in May. Each team plays 14 games and our focus is on growing young children into responsible, ethical healthy adults, through teaching softball fundamentals, while maintaining and developing their integrity, honesty and courage.

Our league program book will be a place sponsors can show their generous support, and advertise their company, as well as provide a nice keepsake for the players and their families. This Program Book will include team photos, candid’s, personal encouragement ads, and area business ads that will help get your name out in our community, and show our children just how much our area businesses support their efforts. We also offer our sponsors banners, to hang on either the Home Run Fence or our backstops, and we have the option of placing your company name onto team t-shirts also. In addition, visit www.portagelakesfastpitch.com for our website, where we will place your ad and a link to your website! We want your company name to be seen as much as possible, so everyone knows who you are! Each sponsor is also invited to our Opening Game Day in May where they will be introduced as a sponsor. In addition, you will receive a special thank you at the end of the season.

Please consider one of the above choices. Only with your help and support can we get this league off the ground, help families who cannot afford to pay, buy much needed equipment, uniforms, umpire fees and provide field maintenance.
